Nike Nationals 2009 - Lauren Allam

Team MVP & 16th in the nation:  Lauren Allam – Shot Put & Discus This is Lauren’s 2nd year competing in the throwing events. And boy has this young lady has turned up the heat on the competition. She has won 12 competitions over the season. Going in as the top seed she placed 2nd in the State Meet in the Discus, a foot away from 1st place. Her throw of 137 feet earned Lauren the 10th All-Time furthest throw in the state which includes all-classifications. She also placed 3rd in the Shot Put. Her personal record is 137-11.00; qualifying Lauren for the Nike Outdoor National Meet  held at North Carolina A & T June 20, 2009.  At 6 meets over the season, Lauren has won both the shot put and the discus; she is both the shot put and discus county and regional champion. At the Knight’s Invite she broke the meet record in the shot put at 37-08.25 won the discus and was named Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Meet. Unlike other athletes that participate in up to 4 events during a meet, Lauren has earned all of her team points from these 2 events. Lauren has accumulated 142 points this season for her team. She not only leads the female team in total of 142 points, but she has 31.5 points over the 4 event top scoring male athlete, Danny Spence. As a junior Lauren is a Caption of her team, she leads by example, she practices hard and competes harder. She will showed here Cougar pride at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, placing 16th; out placing Thomas Johnson’s, senior thrower Emily Vannoy, the Maryland state champion.  Lauren Allam was named Anne Arundel County's 2009 Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

4A Pole Vault State Champion 2009 - Holly Bowen

Athlete of the Month of May: Holly Bowen-(Senior). Holly Bowen won all three championship titles in the Pole Vault. All-County with a height of 9-00.00, 4A East Region Champion with the height of 9-00.00, and 4A State Champion with a height of 9-06.00. Holly achieved her personal record (PR) during the Anne Arundel Relay meet, joined by teammates Sophomore Ashley Reilly and Freshman Kara Lingenfelter to win this relay. With her vault of 9-07.50, Holly is now 2nd on the CHS All-Time Record Board, with the school record being 10-00.00 held by Heather Milford. During the 2009 outdoor season Holly remains undefeated competing in 8 out the 10 meets this season in Pole Vault.

Family and Friends are WELCOMED!!!   Help the Regional Championship Track team obtain their goal of selling over 200 tickets.  Buy selling 200 tickets the O's will donate $1,000 to our track program.  The more people we get at this game, the more FUN we will have!!!  AND you will be supporting the CHS track team!!!

Thanks Everyone for attending!!!  It was a great time.  We sold 115 tickets, earning $575.00 for the track program.

Next Game Date:  Sunday, September 20, 2009  1:35pm Game O's vs the RED SOX.  We have 50 or more if needed to sell.  For each ticket we sell at $20.00 face value, the O's will once again donate $5.00 to our track program.  Spread the word, even if you can't attend maybe you know someone that would like to support our track program by cheering on either Baltimore or Boston.
