2023 Tryout Information

2023 Try Out Information

 

For anyone who is interested in trying out for the 2023 Chesapeake Field Hockey team here is some information you will need to know.

Our try out dates are August 9th -12th  with the location and times TBD. Teams will be determined on August 12th. Once tryouts begin that is the official start of the 2023 season. 

 

You will need to have physicals completed after June 1st and prior to the beginning of the season. You will be able to upload the paperwork to Family ID (https://hello.familyid.com/). Family ID is now open and will close on August 7th at 12pm (noon). It is important to remember that participation is not allowed without a physical. Below is the link to the forms for the physicals:

TRYOUT EXPECTATIONS

Each athlete must be registered on FamilyID and have their physical uploaded and approved in order to participate in tryouts and this season. 

Players are expected to be at all 4 days of tryouts to be eligible for the team. 

We will be assessing of each of the following criteria athlete during tryouts.

 

  • Fitness

    • This area is evaluated based on ability to pass the run tests and effort given during the run tests. 

  • Field Skills: 

    • Stick Work

    • Passing Accuracy

    • Stopping 

    • Attacking Skills

    • Off Ball Movement 

    • Defensive Skills 

    • Defensive Positioning 

    • Re-Defending 

  • Goalie Skills: 

    • Mobility

    • Positioning 

    • Reaction

    • Rebound Control

    • Clearing Strength/Accuracy 

    • Competitiveness

  • Individual Skills: 

    • Communication 

    • Attitude 

    • Work Ethic 

    • Coachability
