MONTGOMERY BLAIR - MD STATE 4A SEMI-FINALS: 0

Chesapeake defeated Montgomery Blair 8-0 to win the 4A State Semi-Final game played at Bachman Park on Tuesday. Senior Megan Hyson hit a home run in the first inning and that would be enough as she recorded a complete game no-hitter with one walk and 16 strikeouts. It improves her pitching record to 22-0 and the team record to 23-0. The offense scored a second run on an RBI single by sophomore Jackie Richards which scored Kim Federowicz who had singled earlier in the inning for a 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning the offense exploded for six runs as senior Gabby Couture hit a 2-run triple, which was followed by an RBI triple by freshmen Danielle Myers. After a strikeout Alex Braun got an infield single and was followed by a 2-run RBI triple by sophomore Olivia Ravadge. Ravadge scored next on an infield error to make the score 8-0. From then on Hyson recorded 8 of the last nine outs as strikeouts. Chesapeake will play Urbana in the State 4A Finals on Saturday evening 6:30pm at the University of Maryland.
